This industry needs to change- it should be similar to the housing market. Rents more than doubling in less than 6 years is ridiculous. Prices increase at a rate of every 6 months. This is unaffordable for people who do not have housing that can accommodate their needs, and a revamp of the storage facility policies would no doubt increase their business. I notice a lot of empty units at the places I have stored recently.

Everything in the unit got destroyed by rats within 30 days and the insurance they make you purchase doesn't cover rodents. Empty poison traps throughout the property.

I had called ahead of time to reserve a unit with the first month free promotion that was advertised on the website. The sales associate on the phone was extremely helpful, gave me the details of my reservation, and confirmed that even if I chose not to stay past the first month, that I would still be eligible to receive the free month via the promotion. When I arrived to sign the lease for my reserved unit, the store manager was very condescending. First when I said that I would not be staying past the first month, she told me that I was not eligible for the first month free promotion. I questioned this as the sales associate I spoke to on the phone said this wouldn’t be an issue. She proceeded to tell me that whoever I spoke with was someone from corporate in Arizona and that it wasn’t representative of that location specifically. After she called her supervisor, it was confirmed that I could still receive the first month free even if I chose not to renew the lease after one month. Even after her supervisor confirmed this she still went on, “are you sure you might only keep her stuff for one week?!” We continued with the procedure and she mentioned that I would need a protection plan which was understandable, and I asked if I could have the lowest protection plan. She told me that it was $17 and I was fine with that. She then said I would have to purchase a new lock. I already had a lock, that I had purchased from that same location when I rented a unit 2 years prior, but she was adamant that it didn’t matter and I needed to purchase a new one. I was genuinely confused as I’ve never heard this and had seen other storage units with master locks and other brands not purchased from cube smart directly. When I said I didn’t understand why I would need a new lock she said, “you should be grateful you’re getting your first month free.” I asked if she could talk to a supervisor to see if there was a clause about purchasing a lock with the lease and she said “no, she’s very busy” even though she had just called her a minute or two prior. She eventually agreed to remove the lock charge and pulled up the lease. As I was reading through I noticed there was a cheaper protection plan for $12. So I asked if I could do that plan instead as I had specifically asked for the cheapest protection plan and she affirmed that $17 was the cheapest. She said “no, I already processed it.” At this point I was frustrated, tired, and just wanted to get to the unit. Very disappointed with the service at the Narragansett location.

I opened a storage unit for my disabled brother who has been ill in a nursing home about 3 years ago. Becca was my first contact with CubeSmart and she went above and beyond to help me get him established with his unit. I have had the pleasure of transacting payments, asking questions etc with Olga this year. I cannot sing the praises of these two women enough. Their kind attitudes, professionalism, and willingness to help are to be applauded. The facility is clean, well maintained, and has easy yet secure access. I would recommend this location to family and friends.

This 2-Part review is CRUCIAL for anyone considering self storage. I am an EBay reseller so I have had multiple storage units over the years…and I have had storage units at this particular location for MANY YEARS…starting way before Cubsmart took it over. The review comes in two parts. The first part is for the NARRAGANSETT CUBESMART location…and the second part is the CUBESMART CORPORATION as a whole. It will be written in two parts due to the length allowed. So first is my review of the NARRAGANSETT CUBESMART location…which I give a solid 10 STAR review! As I said I have had storage units in this location for many years so I have experienced a lot of different employees throughout those years. Also as I said being an EBay reseller has me in an average of 10-20 stores a week so I encounter a very large number of employees on a very regular basis. So that said…I can say that the CUSTOMER SERVICE provided by the manager Becca as well as Olga on a regular basis is ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! There is no place I shop or anywhere else I go that I can think of a better customer service experience than they both provide. They ALWAYS greet you by name when you come in…and they are ALWAYS are an uplifting part of my day! They have helped me on so many occasions that I could never show my thanks enough! If I was ever starting an actual retail business I would steal both of them from CubeSmart for sure! I also have to mention Karen who is no longer at this location and Margaret who fills in once in a while from another location as also providing OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE! Sincerely, Erik

This location is absolutely fantastic. They should have 10 Stars for customer service. I have never found mice droppings or signs of mice destroying anything. They definitely take care of the property for pest control but more importantly they take very good care of their customers. There was a complaint about this location 2 weeks ago and I know it was unfair because I don't think they understand that calls are routed to a call center when you make a reservation and the call center has no idea of the locker sizes except for what is in front of them on a computer screen. This place definitely deserves 10 Stars but 5 is all we can give them and it is well deserved especially for customer service. Thank you for taking the time to read my review

Booked online for a space to store a car. After being told on the phone it would be tall enough although associate couldn’t tell me the height, unit wasn’t tall enough, couldn’t get a refund, so got stuck with outside storage which only needed for a month. Outside was only 125 a month but my whole 300+$ was kept. Stay away.

We went to this cube smart for the first time yesterday, and wow!! The employee who assisted us, Mary, was so incredibly friendly and nice. And helpful!! Beth is great. She is always helpful and says hi every time I visit. She goes up and beyond what is expected of customer service. Other places should model their customer service attitudes and work ethic after her. In this day and age, to find someone so compassionate and understanding is no easy job. She is a great asset to Cubesmart and one of the reasons I keep my stuff stored there. The grounds are kept clean and it is evident for I am there often, to see Beth sweeping dusting being patient with folks on the phone and riding and checking on the grounds. She takes her job seriously and never hesitates to share a smile. Very very valuable employee. Keep up the great customer service.

Easy sign up process. **[UPDATE 12/21/20] Very quick response to my initial review (below) from store & district management who apologized again for the inconvenience. Also confirmed that a technical issue with my access code has been resolved & tested, and assuring me it will work next time I need to use it.** Unfortunately we had to call customer service on the day we signed up and moved in. Had to leave & return later same day with a second load, but the access code assigned to me would not open the gate. After a bit of a delay, customer service was able to give me a temporary access code which got us in.

Guess I got unlucky after looking at the other reviews, as many of my items in unit 278 were covered in mold after about 45 days in the early summer. I noticed my clothes felt damp after a couple weeks so I took them out, but what I didn't expect to see when I came back a bit later was that many of my belongings were covered in mold including an expensive pair of leather shoes. Even some soft plastics stored in bins such as cables were coated in mold. I should have paid more for climate controlled storage. The company recommended I file an insurance claim, but I had already thrown away most of my things without taking pictures because I was so grossed out, so I never filed. The lock they gave me was also too small to fit on the door, which I noticed after they were closed and I had already moved all my stuff in. Overall just a really negative experience. On the plus side, they did give me a larger unit than I requested.

I live in Upstate NY, so when my mother passed away in a care facility in Wakefield in the summer of 2019, I had to quickly figure out what to do with the furniture that was in her room. There wasn't much - a desk, dresser, bookcase, etc., but it was more than I could carry home in my SUV. I contacted a mover and then called CubeSmart to coordinate the move. I did it all by phone and the entire transaction went off without a hitch. Fast forward two years. My sister, who lives in Canada, and I had planned to get everything out of the unit in May 2020, but the pandemic happened. She was unable to come to the US and I just couldn't handle dealing with this alone. But finally, she was able to come to the US and we took care of this in early October 2021. The manager, Karen, couldn't have been nicer. She understood our conundrum and was very helpful. We ended up having to abandon some of what was in the unit because neither of us were able to fit it into our vehicles. Karen had everything prepared in advance so it was just a matter of signing the paperwork. The only negative is the entrance/exit. Point Judith Road is extremely busy and the entrance is a bit obscure. We both ended up doing some rather tricky maneuvers getting into the place. The road leading to the place is quite rugged too. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, safe storage facility.

The initial call is so sale oriented. Very pitchy, however they do honestly tried to help. I called 3 times to get a person who wasn’t such a sales person. They are all the same. I arrived at the location, Deb was the nicest person, she should be a nurse she was so patient and nice and narrarates everything she is doing so you can understand.

I recently moved into the area and needed a place to put my extra stuff. I stopped by to check these guys out and was very pleased with the level of service and the cleanliness of their property. They helped me choose the right size storage space for my needs, and let me use their truck for free to move my things. I didn't lock my storage unit correctly and they noticed and notified me the next day. I was not only thankful, but impressed that they even noticed - thank guys!

I rented their truck to move my Daughter from her apartment in Boston. Brought back the truck on Saturday. Brought it back full as requested . When I brought it back the attendant checked the milage and gas. Now I get a call telling me he did not check the gas & I owe 28.00 for fuel. I paid the bill but will not do business with them again. We had a rental unit there for 4 years. Make sure you check anything you do with them. If there was an issue it should have been addressed when I dropped it off and I should have taken a picture of the gas gauge. Totally unprofessional!
