Maintenance was fair. The facility has restrooms, but they are poorly maintained. The first floor is the worse in terms of cleanliness but with paper towel and toilet paper regularly out, an emergency can become one. The less you need access, the better, it seems. Trying to put my items in order was taking time, and the accusation was that I was "loitering" in the facility. At 57 I can only move like a 47 in short spurts and documenting what is in each box takes time. It seems there is a "too much time" at this facility. The multiple key access points are a pain, but the neighborhood must be dangerous. By dangerous I mean not very dangerous.

I had been a customer at CubeSmart for quite sometime. I missed one payment in September and did not receive the courtesy reminder call. I was then charged a $110 lien fee and received a letter that my unit was going to be put up for auction. I made the September payment along with the October payment needed but still had my locks cut and replaced with a red lock indicating my unit would be auctioned. The employee was quite rude so I chose to move my belongings to another facility. If assisting a customer it’s usually best to hang up your personal phone call rather than talking to me and putting my business out there on your personal phone call.

I was dissapointed during my move in date. The floor to my unit was dirty. I had to clean it myself before I put my contents in there. Also, they supposedly have an app, but it's worthless because it doesn't open the garage door from your car and they have no idea when Corporate is gonna do anything about it. Additionally, the floors in the hallways were riddled with paper garbage and looked like they hadn't been swept in awhile. Unbelievable for a place that's been open for two years.

He was really professional, very pleasant, and extremely helpful in explaining everything and answering my questions. When moving your items and trying to find a place to store them it can be a bit stressful. But it’s ALWAYS a great thing to have someone in place with great customer service that shows kindness, and is helpful to make everything an easy process. The space itself is nice (units as advertised, and big load/unload area). Next to CVS too, so convenient access to Gatorade and water in the Chicago summer heat. However, their pricing is disingenuous. Two months after moving in, I had my rate raised close to 100%, despite assurances from the office manager when moving in that it would be 12 months at minimum before rates are raised. If you plan on extended use, pay your full amount upfront… otherwise, you can set your clock to an unpleasant rate raise once it’s clear your things are there to stay and it will be difficult/impossible for you to move out. One of the grosser examples of captive customer pricing I’ve ever seen and the worst I’ve personally experienced.

In that time I have had to relocate storage spaces and have had some struggles because of customer service and safety issues... The robots tell you choose two for your account balance or make a payment but all you get to do in that option is make a payment. The Central & Addison/Chicago location is very well run and buttoned up with Lee, the on-site manager. Lee has been incredibly helpful and is knowledgeable about the ins & outs of storage rental space. Besides, a very nice man. The location is new, it is very clean and safety seems to be a priority for their customers. I'm very happy I was able to secure a unit. Thanks!

Sneakily get you with the “SmartRental”. With that, you’re forced to enroll in their insurance. There’s also a $29 move in fee which is standard, I’m sure, but worth noting. The lock they provide will cost you an additional $20-$25. No padlocks. Also, was not automatic as it took about ten minutes to access the facility after signing the lease and paying. Not the “smartest”. Facility is standard, what one expects for a storage facility. Clean hallways, dollies available, elevators. The sneaky ways companies will go for an extra buck is off-putting.

Bright and well lit facility. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lee and Anibal were great, they were very attentive and made sure I was informed and comfortable while signing my agreement. The security cameras were a great plus, I know I can leave my belongings and they'll be safe.

I think the security of the place and the cleanliness is great. No one bothers you. The layout of the units is weird but it is what it is. Pricing could be lower but there are places that are 1000 times higher.

I watch this place being built also never thought it would be a storage facility close to me I had stuff in a different area of storage place and I changed over them because it's closer to my home and it was more convenient the place is very secure and that's what I like about that place that's why I changed over from one storage place to another and the people there are very nice and respectful

Relocated to take advantage of ON LINE 1st Month Free Promotion (some fine print but staff was great and made it easy to use). Another reason I relocated to this Portage Park CubeSmart is it’s got the Best Loading Dock with three bays, all column free, which makes for easy backing in / out. At Addison & Central Avenues, it makes for easy access & it’s a brand-new well kept facility. Heads up: You can enter thru CVS parking lot off of Addison, or use Central Avenue servicing both CVS & this CubeSmart of Portage Park (just North of Addison where Patterson dead ends into Central). Highly recommend this location if you are looking for storage space in Logan Square, Irving Park, Lakeview, Lincoln Square or anywhere on the NorthSide because it’s that worth it!
